Five Faves 04•04•10

Here's five things I've been digging this week!

1. How neat is this video??

Adobe Photoshop Cook from Lait Noir on Vimeo.

2. I absolutely adore these Sock Garters from SWANclothing! AND they come custom sized! (*cough cough* my birthday is in July...)

3. The Trololo man. So bizarre, yet you can't look away. This song will be stuck in your head for weeks.

4. The new Doctor Who!
I was sad when David Tennant's Doctor died, but I think Matt Smith is going to do such an incredible job! The first episode was phenominal. I can't wait for next week.

5. Egg decorating (with a geeky twist)
Behold, my Easter Ood!

Music Monday: Doctor Who Edition

46 years ago today, the Doctor had his first adventure and the rest is history.
Or the future.
Time Lords are confusing like that.

In honour of the 46 years, 57 companions and 10 doctors of Doctor Who, this Music Monday is featuring my favourite rendition of the Who theme tune.

I bring you the amazingly geektastic Twin Tesla Coil cover of the Doctor Who theme!

Happy TARDIS Day!

Dear Eleven,

Okay, I promise to stop talking about Doctor Who soon, but right now my nerdy heart couldn't be more excited.

The more I think about the new series, the more I can't wait to see it. However, I understand why a lot of people are apprehensive. Who as we know it is going to change. Series 5 brings us a new executive producer and head writer as well as a new Doctor and companion. All of the main aspects of the show are completely new.

But that is the nature of the show folks. Regeneration. And I cannot wait.

Dear Matt Smith,
First off, congratulations.
Good, now that is out of the way.
You are sort of adorable, slightly dorky and delightfully eccentric.
I fear the fangirls are going to eat you alive.
Even though some fans are a little unsure, I am quite intrigued by you and am keen to defend you until you force me to do otherwise.
Do not let me down sir.

The Eleventh Doctor

Well.
That's not at all what I was expecting.

The eleventh Doctor has been cast. Relative newcomer, Matt Smith (26) will be the youngest Doctor yet.

I am really intrigued for what 2010 will bring with the 5th series of Doctor Who, not only with the casting of Smith. Russell T Davies is being replaced as head writer and executive producer by with Steven Moffat, who penned some of my favourite Who episodes (and made me forever wary of stone angels).

I cannot wait to see what the future holds for my favourite show.

Nerdy News Update

The identity of the person to take up the torch from David Tennant and become the 11th Doctor is going to be revealed TOMORROW during a special episode of Doctor Who Confidential on BBC One. There are 4 Doctor Who specials throughout 2009 and into 2010 until the 10th Doctor regenerates.

Sure there have been 9 Doctors before him, but this regeneration is going to be quite a big deal for me. David Tennant was my first Doctor so he'll always hold that special place, but at the same time I am quite excited to find out who 11 is going to be.

Who do I think it's going to be?
I have a strong feeling the 11th Doctor will be Paterson Joseph.
I kind of hope I am wrong though. I have never been a big fan of his.

Here is my top 5 dream (aka never going to happen) wishlist for 11.

05 Steve Valentine
04 Bill Nighy
03 Kevin Eldon
02 Julian Rhind-Tutt
01 Bill Bailey

Santa Baby

Happy Christmas!
I know, I know I am late with this post but it has been a busy couple of days.
A very good kind of busy though.

Santa was very good to me this year.
He brought me an Xbox 360!
My very first gaming console!

Bundled with the system was 5 games: Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures, Kung Fu Panda, Turok, Gun and darkSector. Also included with my gift was Karaoke Revolution Presents: American Idol Encore 2.

I must have been on the extra good list this year.

I am absolutely loving everything about my Xbox. The dashboard is super slick and easy to navigate. I love the wireless controller. I am finding the layout of it quite easy to use, and I can be confused easily. Also, the new Xbox Experience is so neat! Creating an avatar was fun, and I really do think it looks quite a lot like me.

I haven't had loads of time to pour into playing during this bustling holiday season, but I have played a little bit.

I was up before 5am on Boxing Day to go line up at Future Shop and check out their sales. While I didn't pick up anything that was on sale, or the game I was looking for, I did decide to grab Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. I AM SO GLAD I DID. I really didn't get to far into this but I am already blown away. First of all, the title and music for Star Wars intros always gives me big nerdy goosebumps, and this was no exception. Next, I really don't want to give spoilers for the game but HOLY COW! Being a huge Star Wars fan, and playing through that first section made me giddy as a schoolgirl. It also seems as though this game is going to have an awesome story to go along with it.
I was also completely flabbergasted at the graphics. They were completely breathtaking and I was playing on a standard def television. I cannot imagine what it would look like in HD! Can't wait to get back to playing some more.

I picked this baby up at Walmart today using the gift card I got from my Grandma. Please excuse my language, and Grandma cover your ears, but HOLY SHIT. I have no words for how amazing this game is. To quote a completely overused movie quote: it had me at hello. From the very beginning of the first cut scene I was completely enthralled. I like to think of myself as a zombie movie buff, and that little thing had me captivated, had more suspense and was more thrilling than a lot of actual feature films. And it did the trick by showing me what exactly I had gotten myself into and ramped up my energy for the first assault. Again, I don't want to give any spoilers, but I played through the first solo campaign and had so much fun, combined with so many "HOLY SHIT!" moments. I am so very excited to give the multiplayer a go with a bunch of my friends. Hands down, best game I have ever played.

And on a completely unrelated Christmassy note.... HOW AMAZING WAS THIS YEAR'S DOCTOR WHO CHRISTMAS SPECIAL?!

Wigs are Fun!!

Day 77
I move tomorrow.
I have hardly anything packed.
Clearly it is more important to watch the new Doctor Who and take photos of myself with a wig on.
I <3 my priorities.
